An S7 Airlines Boeing 737-800 ran off the runway after landing at Mirny Airport in Russia’s Yakutia region. The aircraft, operating Flight S7 5241 from Novosibirsk to Mirny, came to a stop on the grass beside the runway.
All 173 passengers and 6 crew members escaped without injury. Passengers were safely evacuated using mobile stairs.
Mirny Airport was temporarily closed to both arriving and departing flights while recovery operations were carried out to remove the aircraft from the scene.
